But is certainly not as black &amp;amp; white as our IPCC are trying to make out. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am sick &amp;amp; tired of being accused of being a &amp;quot;denier&amp;quot; (with all the nasty connotations associated with the holocaust deliberately implied) when in fact I just want an open intelligent debate without &amp;quot;sides&amp;quot; being taken.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Follow the money: Thatcher set up the IPCC when Britain was labelled &amp;quot;the Dirty Man of Europe&amp;quot; to gain the chair and the moral high ground. This was scheduled to be in 2015, but take-up of DAB has not been good enough to allow that. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is still debate about when it will happen:&lt;br /&gt;http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/8617678/Government-still-wont-commit-to-digital-radio-switchover-date.html&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Although certainly a digital radio fan I do not think the technology is ready for a switch. Basically the digital signal has to be encoded, transmitted, a certain number of frames received, then decoded. This entire process can take a few seconds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Whereas an analogue signal generally just has the transmission time to cope with. (*)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Having said that, I think the advantages of digital radio are worth the time lag. Then again, I would say that :-)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(*) It is, sometimes, more complex than that. It sounds like your boots are lasting for ...</title><content type='html'>Hi gm,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It sounds like your boots are lasting for roughly the same amount of time and miles as mine.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I think the uppers may split because of my unusual gait.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Goodness knows how people get 15 years out of theirs. I have had many different brands but only one pair has split on the uppers, and this was not a full split, but a cracking of the leather. All my boots have worn out due to the soles wearing thin. I regret having to bin them because the uppers are always good. My current boots are Karrimor which I purchased from Amazon.
