Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to inform you of a charity event taking place this summer of which I am the organiser. A fellow hiker and I shall be taking part in a sponsored walk starting on the 16th of June 2010 in Leicester at the Soar Lane Bridge and finishing at the BBC Studio in London. We aim to walk the majority of this journey on the Grand Union Canal. We are calling this event “The Hitch and Hike”. We are hoping to raise funds for the charity Mind by collecting donations and sponsorship and also to raise awareness for both the charity and the waterways by creating an online blog during our journey. We will also be performing some small shows along our way of some circus skills. We would appreciate any help that you could offer us during our campaign and any publicity you could provide.
